The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Textbook Board (KPTB) is experiencing financial difficulties that prevent it from funding the printing of books for the upcoming academic year. The board has already paid for books printed in the previous year but is currently unable to afford the printing of books for the next academic year.
KPTB Requests Funding from Finance Secretary
The KPTB has requested funding from the Finance Secretary but has not yet received any assistance. This lack of funding may result in delays in the distribution of official textbooks to schools.
The provincial government had promised to provide 9 billion rupees to the KPTB for book printing but has only released 1 billion rupees so far. Some printing presses have already finished printing textbooks for the 2023-2024 academic year and are now seeking payment from the board.
To avoid disruptions in the supply of textbooks, the KPTB has repeatedly requested the government to release the remaining 8 billion rupees as soon as possible.
